HEALTHY FAMILIES provides low-cost health, dental, and vision coverage for children not eligible for Medi-Cal. This program is available to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and “qualified” immigrant children under age 19.  Call (800) 675-2229.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  A new rule protects families from Immigration and Naturalization (INS) for public costs while receiving Medi-Cal or Healthy Families.  Call Consumer Center for Health Education and Advocacy at 877-734-3258.

KAISER CHILD HEALTH PLAN  Low cost health care for children under age 19 and not eligible for Medi-Cal or Healthy Families.  The plan includes medical, dental, and mental health.   Cost is $8-$15 /child/month. 800 255-5053

MENTAL HEALTH  Twain has a partnership with Mental Health Systems for individual and family therapy at no cost for students with Medi-Cal and low cost for students with no mental health insurance.  Contact the school nurse for assistance.

The nurse has free gift certificates for this school year for eye exams and glasses  for students who do not have vision care insurance.  Also available is emergency dental care for students with no dental insurance.  A list of agencies providing low cost dental service is also available.
