Taft 8th Grade Promotion Activities Policy
For an 8th grade student to be involved in all promotion activities at Taft Middle School the student must adhere to the following policy:
May NOT have more than 2 F’s in Academics by the end of the second semester. (Boomer’s activity by June 9, 2009, Promotion Ceremony by June 12, 2009)
May NOT have more than 2 U’s on final report card in citizenship by the end of the second semester. (Boomer’s activity by June 9, 2009, Promotion Ceremony up to June 12, 2009)
May NOT have more than ONE Suspension per semester.
May NOT have more than 2 instances of truancy (period, whole day, or tardy more than 30 minutes) for the entire school year, as per District Policy.
May NOT have any outstanding school debt (Must be cleared by Friday June 9th for Boomer’s or by Friday June 12th for Promotion Ceremony).
The Taft Promotion Activity Policy is not meant to conflict with the District’s retention policy in 8th grade and for advancement to high school. The Taft Promotion Activity Policy stipulates what a Taft 8th grade student must earn as a privilege to be involved in the promotion activities of the school.
Manditory Parent Conferences will be held for students who have failed to meet the
aforementioned promotion activities criteria.
