WELCOME FROM OUR NEW PRINCIPAL

July 28, 2008

Dear Sunset View Parents,

I am just thrilled to have been appointed as principal of Sunset View.  As a long-time resident of Point Loma, I have passed by the school many times and noticed the breathtaking location where one could only dream of working every day, never imagining the time would come when it would become a reality!  During the past week, I've been exploring the school and have had the opportunity to meet some staff members and even a few parents.  It's beginning to feel like home.

My previous assignment was at Hancock School, in the Murphy Canyon military housing area of Tierrasanta, where I was vice principal for the past five years.   During that time, I came to have a real appreciation for the families of those who serve in the armed forces and to have a keen awareness of their concerns.

Paul Gilroy has been most gracious to me during this transition process and I know I join with you in wishing him the very best in his new assignment at Jerabek School.  As I become familiar with the school, I am learning about the many excellent programs and resources that are offered to our children and I am also learning about the amazing support of the Sunset View parents!

I certainly look forward to meeting you in September and wish you well as you enjoy the remainder of the summer.

With warm wishes,

Linda B. Parker
Principal
