Congratulations to our Tiger students, staff, parents and community members for another successful year at Sandburg.  The year was filled with many activities that promoted academic excellence, physical fitness, character building and community outreach. 

I thank the SDUSD employees (landscapers, maintenance and operations, legal department, central office staff, Special Ed., etc.) who supported Sandburg in all areas throughout the school year.  Keeping the school functioning as a safe and productive learning center for all students is a large task.  The team work is very much appreciated! I also wish to thank the staff members who gave their personal best every day to enhance the lives of our Sandburg Tigers.  The staff members who went above and beyond their work day to create extra curricular activities/opportunities for the students are also very much appreciated!  A huge round of applause for the numerous volunteers who took time out of their busy lives to assist in the classrooms and/or out on the playground and running field.  The volunteers for the soccer games during recess are greatly appreciated as well as the volunteers for the three times a week running club and monthly cycling club.  Thank you to all those people who helped create these events and to those who kept it alive.  Without volunteers Sandburg would not be the jewel it is.

At our last Monday morning assembly we had an awards ceremony acknowledging the people who truly make a difference at Sandburg.  The students are part of our daily celebrations of recognition. They are the ones who make coming to work every day special.  They are loving and caring young people with a bright future ahead of them.  They come to school prepared to take on the daily academic and social challenges.  Hats off to our young learners – it is a pleasure being their principal. 

As we wish our Sandburg Tigers a safe and exciting summer I want to express, once again, my sincere gratitude to all of you.  It is an honor to be the principal at Sandburg!

We look forward to our next school year which begins on Tuesday, September 2 at 7:45am.
