  Welcome back
to the 2006-07 Sandburg Tiger school year. I trust your
summer was relaxing and filled with the making of new memories
with family and friends. The summer break is a time for you
and your children to reflect on the past school year, have fun
and prepare for another school year filled with new
experiences and learning. The new school year is here and the
entire Sandburg staff is looking forward to sharing their love
for teaching and learning with you and your children.
Sandburg
continues to stay focused on state standards and student
productivity at the proficient levels. We believe all children
have the ability to learn, we encourage all children to work
to their fullest potential and we expect their personal best
at all times. Our character banners that grace the walls of
the school’s center court set the expectations we have for all
members of our learning community. It takes a partnership
between home and school to see that these character skills are
modeled, learned, and practiced by everyone. Sandburg
continues to strive towards excellence in academic and social
development. Academic success and leading a literate life is
influenced by what is expected at home as well as at school.
Help us achieve our goals for your children,
together we can continue to make a difference.
We need to
keep our school learning environment safe, clean and beautiful
by taking pride in our surroundings. Please help us by
volunteering your time to help out in the classrooms and
during school events. We will have many projects and
activities happening throughout the school year where we
invite your participation. It’s important for your child to
see you involved in his/her education both in the classroom
and out.
Speaking of
participation, you have a standing invitation to attend our
weekly Monday morning assemblies that take place out in
the center court at 7:45 am. It is our way to celebrate the
students, staff and community.
We have had a
few staff changes at the school this year. Changes bring new
experiences and discoveries. Changes are also empowering as
long as we all remain focused on the same vision and belief
that every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn.
Learning is an evolving process which requires meaningful
input from all parties involved. We will acknowledge and
celebrate these new changes at our Back to School Night on
Thursday, September 14.
Please fill
out the attached required forms and return them to your
teacher as soon as possible. I look forward to working with
you this school year! Welcome!
