Great State Websites for State-wide Writing Assessment. @ Oregon you can actually practice scoring online (unless they pulled the plug for outsiders)

Oregon State Scoring Site: a site for teachers to practice and norm their assessment skills:

[you might have to go to http://www.open.k12.or.us first and then click on the scoring link.]

Tennessee State Writing assessment – note that their idea of a 6 on a scale of 6 is not one I share; they’re a bit too easy for that top score: lots of stuff including anchor papers, rubrics and more – 4th, 7th and 11th grade

Prentice-Hall: 9th grade rubrics and scored models for

Narrative, Descriptive, Expository, Persuasive, and Response to Literature

A great source for stuff to help you teach all kinds of writing including informal, argumentative, source based (research) and others avec writing process a la NWP

5 paragraph Essay – great site especially vis a vis the CHSEE scored essays: the rigid 5 P essays that are clean get the highest scores. A good place to start. I prefer not to use a number : I call it the multi paragraph essay and mention that 2 or more body paragraphs does the trick. [WARNING: this site loads slllllllllllooooooooooooooowwwllyyyyyyyyy]
