Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment Period Now in Progress
The annual Benefits Open Enrollment period is in effect until Friday, November 21, 2008. During this period, eligible employees may enroll for medical/dental coverage, change plans, and/or add eligible dependents. Eligible employees can also elect to participate in the Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Plans for the calendar year 2009. All Open Enrollment changes will become effective January 1, 2009.

All eligible employees should have received an Open Enrollment for Medical/Dental Plans Adobe PDF and Flexible Spending Accounts Adobe PDF packet. Several Open Enrollment Meetings are scheduled throughout the month of October where employees can meet with representatives from the district medical and dental providers and receive a free flu shot. Click here Adobe PDF for a list of meeting dates and locations.

For information or if you have not received an Open Enrollment packet, call the Employee Benefits Operations Office at (619) 725-8130, option 6.

Please Note: The following changes in medical benefits will be effective January 1, 2009:

  • Kaiser emergency room visit co-pay will increase to $50 (waived if admitted).
  • Pacificare HMO and POS emergency room visit co-pay will increase to $100.
  • Pacificare HMO and POS will no longer cover infertility treatments and hearing aids.
  • Medco Drugs co-pay will increase by $5 for brand name drugs.

Deadline to Submit Forms* is Friday, November 21, 2008.
*No enrollment forms are necessary for medical/dental coverage unless an employee wishes to make a change. Enrollment in a FSA is not automatic. Employees who participated during 2008 must re-enroll if participation is desired for 2009.
