Homework this year will consist of a reading home journal, record sheets, and guide sheets. Children are required to read and write a response daily, practice basic math facts, study for spelling and do any make-up work or preparation for tests. The amount of time may vary from child to child depending on ability level and focus. I would expect approximately 1 hour or more per day set aside for homework. Children should have a desk, materials i.e. dictionary, and a great place to study. Please review the goals, objectives and suggested activities for homework. Homework will be turned in the last Friday of each month. It will be graded and returned within a day or two. Continue to do reading journal work on regular paper until the journal is returned.

Sample Homework Plan

• Study spelling words for 10 min, Use worksheets, flashcards, games or whatever method is best for your learning style. Any assigned spelling worksheets or workbook pages are due Fri. Tests are on Fri.                   
• Math:  Do assigned math worksheets from math packet (about 20 min.) Practice basic math facts (about 10 min.) Math 4 Today quizzes are on Fri. Worksheet is due the same day.                                                             
• Reading: Read for 15-20 min each day. Write at least an 8 sentence reflection in home journal about  the reading (10 min.)

Study for any up-coming tests in Social Studies, Science, or Health. Students will get a study guide and they may take home their books at any time. Students will get at least a 3 day notice before tests. Quizzes may be given at any time.

Plan to spend 60-90 min. on homework 4 x per week.

Home Journal is due the end of each month.

Spelling is due the end of each week.

Social Studies, Science tests are given at end of each chapter.
