Myron B. Green was a master music educator much loved by his students, who affectionately called him "Pappy." He came to Hoover High School in 1937 and started an "a capella" choir. By 1940, the choir had gained such a reputation for excellence, it was invited to sing at the National Music Educator's Conference in Los Angeles, one of three high school choirs in the United States to be invited. After leaving Hoover he became Superintendent of Music for San Diego City Schools. He was also the choir director at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in the early 1950's which at that time was located on College Avenue near San Diego State University (SDSU). Myron died in 1955 at the age of 49. To his honor, the school district named our school after him.
