Before/After School Activities
The La Jolla YMCA offers on-site before
and after school childcare. The program is available before school from
6:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. At the end of the day, students can go directly to the
YMCA program from their classrooms at 3:35 p.m. and can be picked up at any time
before 6:00 p.m. The La Jolla Elementary School office can provide you with
information on the program.

Knowledge College (Mondays, Tuesdays,
Thursdays after school)
In the
2004-2005 school year, we began an after school “homework club” to assist
students with their home assignments. Our La Jolla Elementary teachers at each
grade level work with students to reinforce concepts and to assist them with
work organization and task completion. The fees for this program are paid
directly to the school.
This
program offers:

Our own teachers at each grade level assisting students in a small group
setting

The convenience of having students attend a program on site

Access to La Jolla Elementary books, computers and resources, including our
wonderful library

A trained professional for the child to work with on his/her homework and a
well-deserved break for mom and dad!

LJES
After School Science Enrichment Program (Tuesdays after school)
We love learning
about science at La Jolla Elementary School! In 2006, we formed a partnership
with Rendezvous Science
Center in La Jolla. We offer an after school science enrichment program
to all students in grades K-5. The fees for this program are paid directly to
the school.
The After School
Science Enrichment Program will be offered once/week on Tuesdays for the
2008-9 school year. Our La Jolla Elementary teachers at each grade level will
work with students on carefully chosen science topics and activities that will
expand and enrich the regular curriculum taught in our science program. It
will be taught as our science program is taught with hands on exploration and
an inquiry-based approach.

Wednesday afternoons, the PTO offers amazing
enrichment programs. Parents may choose to have their children
participate in one or two classes each Wednesday for fees paid directly to our
vendors.
There are five sessions scheduled for the ‘08 – ‘09 School Year as follows:

Wednesday After School Enrichment Program

SUPERVISION PROGRAM!
We are now offering supervision for your children between 12:35 and 1PM on
Wednesdays, at no additional cost, for those parents who cannot escort their
child to their after school class! You MUST enroll in this program if you
will not be supervising your child during this time. Please download the

Sing ‘n Speak Spanish
(before school)
We offer Spanish lessons for beginning,
intermediate and advanced students. Classes are 45-minutes, one morning
each week in cycles throughout the school year. Parents may choose to have their
children learn Spanish before starting their school day for a fee paid directly

Math Club (before school)
Join the LJES Math Club, where children can play
fun math games while learning their math facts! Every Tuesday at 8:15AM to
8:45AM. Grades 3, 4, 5 meet in Ms. Burt's room. Grades K, 1, 2 meet in Ms.
Rice's room. It's free!
LJES Run Club (Wednesdays before school)
Come join in the fun and get a great
work-out running, jogging or walking! Wednesdays 8:45-9am on the field.
Parents, Students and Teachers are welcome!
